Senator Ping Lacson has welcomed Alex Eala’s first-ever main draw victory at Wimbledon, calling it a welcome break from the political noise surrounding the rally along EDSA.

In a post on X, Lacson congratulated the 21-year-old Filipina after her straight-set win over Mexico’s Renata Zarazua.

“Watching Alex Eala’s easy win in her first round of the prestigious Wimbledon Championships is a welcome departure from the unpleasant atmosphere in EDSA. Congratulations and good luck!” Lacson said.

Eala advanced to the second round after her breakthrough victory in the grass-court Grand Slam tournament.

A day earlier, Lacson criticized the Iglesia ni Cristo rally, saying its call for transparency and accountability appeared inconsistent with its support for Sen. Rodante Marcoleta.IMT
