President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. has declared Feb. 9, 2024 as a special non-working holiday throughout the country.
The declaration aims to “give the people the full opportunity to celebrate the Chinese New Year and enable our countrymen to avail of the benefits of a longer weekend.”
It was made through Proclamation No. 453 signed on January 18 by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.
The Chinese New Year celebration is scheduled on Saturday, Feb. 10.
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) was ordered to issue the appropriate circular to implement the proclamation for the private sector.IMT
