President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is pushing for stronger cybersecurity measures to protect Filipinos as more people turn to online platforms for banking, shopping and other daily transactions.

The issue was among the priorities discussed during his meeting with the Private Sector Advisory Council Digital Infrastructure Sector Group at Malacañan Palace on Tuesday, Nov. 3

The administration is concerned that the growing use of digital services also exposes consumers and businesses to cyberattacks and other online threats.

Marcos Jr. wants stronger safeguards for digital platforms so Filipinos can pay bills, transfer money and access online services without fear of falling victim to cybercrime.

Small businesses are also a major concern, particularly those that rely on online marketplaces and electronic payments to reach customers and keep their operations running.

Aside from cybersecurity, the President is pushing for wider internet access, especially in remote communities where poor connectivity remains a problem.

He is also reviewing the Bayanihan SIM Project as part of efforts to connect more Filipinos to digital services.IMT
