Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said the government will continue cutting the administrative burden on teachers while improving their benefits and opportunities for career advancement.

Speaking at the 2026 National Teachers’ Day celebration at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Monday, Oct. 5, Marcos Jr. said teachers should be given more time to focus on their students instead of paperwork and other administrative requirements.

One of the changes cited by the President was the reduction in classroom observations. From four observations per school year, the number was reduced to one during School Year 2025–2026 and will be limited to two in succeeding school years.

He also said the government is working on the release of the 2024 Performance-Based Bonus and directed concerned agencies to ensure that the process is orderly and faster.

Marcos Jr. said teachers would also continue to receive various benefits and incentives, including teaching and medical allowances and the World Teachers’ Day Incentive Benefit.

“At hindi tayo titigil doon. Patuloy nating hahanapan ng paraan kung paano pa mapabubuti ang suporta, benepisyo, at mga oportunidad para sa ating mga guro,” according to him.

The President said the administration would also continue creating opportunities for teachers to advance in their careers while protecting their rights and welfare.

“And because supporting our teachers means investing in their growth, we have expanded opportunities for career advancement,” he said.

As of September, 82,105 teachers and school heads had been promoted under the Expanded Career Progression System, including around 4,125 newly promoted teachers and education personnel in Region II.IMT
