Almost 70 fire incidents occurred in Iloilo City in the first four months of 2026, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

In a report by radio station RMN Iloilo, the BFP-Iloilo City Fire Station recorded a total of 67 fire incidents from January 1 to April 26 this year.

SF01 Denmark Macoco, head of the fire station’s Intelligence and Investigation Unit, said majority of the incidents were due to electrical issues.

The incidents also included grass fires, which were mostly caused by unattended bonfire and lighted cigarette butts.

All in all, the fires, which erupted in residential and commercial areas, caused P2.8 million worth of damage to properties.IMT
