No casualties, damage reported in Iloilo due to Rolly

There were no reports of injuries, casualties or major damage to infrastructure and agriculture in Iloilo after the onslaught of Super Typhoon Rolly (international name: Goni).

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) placed the northern portion of Iloilo province (Sara, Concepcion, Balasan, Batad, Lemery, San Dionisio, Carles, and Estancia) under Signal No. 1 on Sunday, Nov. 1.

Rolly, the strongest typhoon in the world so far for 2020, intensified into a super typhoon early Sunday morning. It made landfall in Luzon four times.

Iloilo Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) head Jerry Bionat said the typhoon, which is now moving west northwest at 20 kilometers per hour (kph), has no significant impact on the province.

The storm signal in northern Iloilo was lifted by PAGASA Sunday evening.

In its bulletin issued at 5 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 2, the state weather bureau said Rolly was last located 100 kilometers west southwest of Subic Bay.

It has a maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.IMT
