The Office of the Ombudsman has endorsed a complaint against Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez to the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) and asked it to seek a freeze order on his assets.
Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla said the case is expected to move forward soon, starting with money laundering allegations linked to the construction of a Forbes Park property on Tamarind Street.
“The first case would be about money laundering. Ayan ang matagal nating hinihintay, na magsimula na ang paglabas ng mga kasong ito na high level talaga,” said Remulla.
He also confirmed that former Senate President Francis Escudero is under active investigation, with a preliminary probe to be conducted soon as case build-up continues.
Remulla added that asset freezing for Escudero is also being considered.
The Ombudsman earlier said it is preparing plunder cases against both officials in connection with the alleged flood control corruption scandal.IMT
