The Civil Aviation Authority (CAAP) has started the implementation of two key projects intended to improve the Iloilo International Airport.

The first project, amounting to P132.90 million, mainly involves the upgrade of the passenger terminal building (PTB) of the airport in town of Cabatuan.

Specifically, the upgrade includes comfort room renovations, wall repainting, wall cladding, roof fascia cleaning and waterproofing of three fixed bridge roofs.

It also cover the installation of air conditioning units, new escalators and an elevator, lighted signages, flight information display system, gang chairs, and airport trolleys; enhancement of fire detection systems; corrective maintenance of boarding bridges; and repair of the departure conveyor system.

Once completed,  PTB’s capacity is expected to increase to 675 domestic 407 international passengers from 367 domestic and 360 international passengers.

The second project, which costs P37.55 million, involves the installation and commissioning of three 600-kilowatt chillers.

“With a combined funding of over P190 million sourced from the DOTr (Department of Transportation) General Appropriations Act (GAA) 2024, these initiatives are aligned with the directives of President Ferdinand (R.) Marcos Jr. and Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon to enhance the country’s transport infrastructure through the Build Better More program,” said CAAP Director General Raul L. del Rosario.

“CAAP and DOTr remain fully committed to enhancing the travel experience of every passenger by ensuring that our airports are safe, efficient, and passenger-friendly,” he added.IMT
