Anti-narcotics operatives seized approximately P442,000 worth of suspected illegal drugs and arrested a designated high-value Individual (HVI) during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Rizal Lapuz Sur, Lapuz, Iloilo City, on Tuesday evening, Sept. 8.
Police identified the suspect by the alias “Toto,” a 28-year-old construction worker residing in Barangay Alalasan, Lapuz.
Recovered from the suspect were 11 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride), weighing a total of around 65 grams.
The seized contraband carries a standard drug price (SDP) of P442,000.
Operatives also recovered the marked buy-bust money and several non-drug paraphernalia during the arrest.
The suspect is currently detained at Iloilo City Police Station 8 (ICPS8) facility and is set to be charged with violations of Republic Act No. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The joint operation was conducted at around 7:50 p.m. by operatives of the Iloilo City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) headed by Police Captain Jersey A. Besas, in coordination with the Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET) of ICPS8.
Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) Director Police Colonel Wilbert B. Parilla praised the operatives for the successful operation and reiterated the command’s commitment to curbing illegal drug activities across the city.
The city’s top cop also encouraged community members to remain proactive in reporting suspicious activities.
“Our campaign against illegal drugs continues. We will not allow these activities to persist in our community. Let us unite in guiding and protecting our children and maintaining a more peaceful and safer city,” Parilla said.IMT
