Authorities confiscated illegal cigarettes worth more than P5.22 million in an operation conducted in Barangay Jolog, Estancia, Iloilo.
A total of 6,494 packs of assorted brands of untaxed cigarettes were seized from alias “Leslie” on Thursday, April 23.
The suspect was arrested by virtue of a Revenue Regional Special Order and Mission Order issued by Revenue Region 11.
The joint operation was conducted by the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s (IPPO) Intelligence Unit and the Bureau of Internal Revenue Revenue District Office No. 75-Northern Iloilo.
It was supported by the 2nd Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company and the Estancia Municipal Police Station (MPS).
Police Regional Office (PRO-6) director Brigadier General Josefino Ligan said they “will continue to intensify our efforts against all forms of illegal trade.”
“Let this serve as a warning that those who engage in such activities will be held accountable under the full force of the law,” he added.IMT
