Malacañang has reminded local officials not to take advantage of beneficiaries receiving assistance under the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF), warning that the government will act against reports of abuse.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro stressed that the LGSF is for all local government units regardless of political affiliation, citing Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo’s statement that the program benefits communities without regard for political color.
“Ang LGSF ay pangkalahatan, walang pinipiling kulay ito, walang pinipiling bayan, walang pinipiling lugar. Lahat ng barangay, lahat ng local government units ay mabibiyayaan ng LGSF.”
Castro urged beneficiaries to check with their local officials if they fail to receive the full 10-kilogram rice allocation, following reports that some recipients were given less than what they were entitled to.
“Kapag may ganyan na nangyari, ipagbigay-alam niyo lang sa amin dahil kami mismo ang magka-call out, sisita sa mga ganitong klaseng pananamantala.”
Castro also warned the public not to pay anyone in exchange for government assistance.
“Kapag kayo ay sinabihan na kailangan magbayad kayo para makatanggap ng ayuda mula sa pamahalaan, wala pong bayad ni singko, so huwag po kayo magpapaloko.”
Under the LGSF program, qualified low-income families, senior citizens and solo parents receive 10 kilos of rice every two months. President Marcos earlier said 1,276 of nearly 2,000 LGUs nationwide have already received assistance.IMT
