PBBM says nearly 1,300 LGUs have received government support fund

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said 1,276 local government units (LGUs) across the country have already received assistance through the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF).

Speaking during the “Bawat Bayan Makikinabang” event in Tarlac City, Marcos said the program will continue to help Filipinos cope with rising prices of basic goods.

“Kaya’t sa mga dalawang libo, halos dalawang libo ang LGU natin sa buong bansa, nakapagbigay na tayo ng 1,276 na LGU ng LGSF,” the President said.

Aside from financial assistance for LGUs, the program also provides 10-kilo rice packs to senior citizens, persons with disabilities, solo parents, 4Ps beneficiaries, indigent families, farmers, fisherfolk, drivers, and minimum wage earners.

Marcos said the government has enough funds to sustain the program despite the increase in fuel prices caused by the conflict in the Middle East.

He also explained that every barangay will receive P200,000 under the Socio-Civic Projects Fund (SCPF). Half of the amount will be used for scholarships, while the remaining P100,000 will fund community projects, repairs, equipment, and other barangay needs.

The President said each barangay can choose five Presidential Scholars who will each receive P20,000 in financial assistance.

He encouraged barangay officials to prioritize students who are at risk of dropping out because of financial difficulties so they can finish their education.IMT
