President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has signed Executive Order No. 119, updating the government’s data classification system to strengthen cybersecurity and support digital transformation.

The new order sets uniform rules on how government data should be classified, protected, stored, and shared among agencies.

“This Order shall cover all government data in digital or hybrid form, owned, processed, or controlled by national government agencies,” the President said in the EO.

The order covers national government agencies, government-owned and controlled corporations, and state universities and colleges. It also encourages other government offices to adopt the same standards.

Covered agencies are expected to fully comply with the new policy within three years and submit regular reports on their implementation.IMT
