President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. assured continued government support for Philippine sports during the opening of the 2026 Palarong Pambansa in Agusan del Sur.
Represented by Special Assistant to the President Antonio Lagdameo Jr., Marcos Jr. said sports help build discipline, teamwork, perseverance, and confidence among the youth.
This year’s Palaro gathered more than 10,000 student-athletes from 18 regions across the country.
The President highlighted government programs supporting young athletes, including the “Grassroots to Gold” program and the distribution of sports equipment to over 6,000 schools.
Marcos Jr. also encouraged participants to compete with honor, humility, and sportsmanship throughout the weeklong sporting event.IMT
