The Presidential Communications Office (PCO), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and Department of Justice (DOJ) signed a pact to boost crackdown on fake news, disinformation, and AI deepfakes.

The deal sets a whole-of-government approach to detect, investigate, and prosecute online falsehoods under existing laws.

“We are confronting a rapidly evolving information landscape where truth is increasingly vulnerable to distortion and manipulation,” said PCO chief Dave Gomez.

Justice chief Frederick Vida called it a “pivotal step in safeguarding our democracy,” while DICT’s Henry Aguda warned fake content now looks real and can erode public trust.

Under the pact, PCO will lead public messaging, DICT will handle tech coordination and cybersecurity, while DOJ will pursue cases, ensuring actions still respect free speech and data privacy.IMT
