Senator Panfilo Lacson has urged fellow senators to sign the panel’s partial report on the flood control mess based on duty, not peer pressure or bloc politics.

“If you are a senator, you must have your own convictions, not follow the convictions of your colleagues,” Lacson said, stressing decisions should be guided by what is right, regardless of majority or minority affiliation.

The report still lacks three signatures before it can be brought to plenary, a step needed for hearings to resume.

The chairperson of the Senate Blue Ribbon admitted some lawmakers may be hesitant to sign but said the recent arrest of former congressman Zaldy Co could push more senators to back the report as pressure builds to uncover the truth.

He added Co may face hurdles in becoming a state witness, noting he has been tagged as the alleged architect of the flood control scandal.IMT
