The Philippine National Police (PNP) will review school security measures nationwide following the deadly shooting at a high school in Tacloban City that left three students dead and 20 others injured.
The move came after Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla ordered a review of security protocols in schools.
Speaking at a Palace briefing, PNP spokesperson Allen Rae Co said schools with multiple entry and exit points may be advised to limit access to one or two monitored gates.
The PNP is also assessing the implementation of anti-bullying policies and strengthening coordination among police, barangays, and school officials.
“Palalakasin po natin ‘yung coordination mechanism between law enforcement, the barangays, as well as the schools po natin,” Co said.
The PNP is likewise pushing for emergency drills and increased police visibility in schools, while seeking support from LGUs and barangay tanods to help maintain campus safety.IMT
