Authorities arrested a 32-year-old high-value drug suspect and seized nearly P2.84 million worth of suspected illegal drugs during an anti-illegal drug operation in Estancia, Iloilo.
The suspect, identified by police as alias “Dave,” single and unemployed, was apprehended in his neighborhood in Barangay Poblacion Zone 2 around 11:09 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 21.
Operating elements of the Drug Enforcement Team of the town’s police station, led by officer-in-charge Police Lieutenant Adrian Baligod, conducted the buy-bust operation that led to the suspect’s capture.
During the operation, law enforcers confiscated approximately 416 grams of suspected “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) with an estimated standard drug price of P2,842,800.00.
Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) director Police Colonel Bayani M. Razalan commended the operating team for the successful sting operation and highlighted the vital role of public cooperation in anti-drug efforts.
“This accomplishment demonstrates the value of focused and sustained information gathering and validation, and the continued support of our communities in the fight against illegal drugs,” he said in a statement.
The suspect is currently detained and will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.IMT
