GT Poultry Farm has withdrawn its civil case against three barangay officials and 18 residents of Barangay Linobayan in Tigbauan, Iloilo, over complaints concerning foul odors and flies allegedly coming from the poultry farm.

In an interview with GMA Super Radyo Iloilo, Linobayan Punong Barangay Rene Taño said the poultry farm’s camp withdrew the case involving a writ of prohibitory injunction with damages on October 9, 2026.

Taño welcomed the development, saying barangay officials could now focus on serving their community without the burden of the legal dispute.

The conflict began in 2025 when Linobayan residents complained about foul odors and flies allegedly coming from the poultry farm located in a neighboring barangay.

In August 2025, the farm filed a case against the barangay officials and residents following their complaints.

The dispute escalated on August 26, 2026, when Taño, seven barangay councilors and the Sangguniang Kabataan chairperson tendered their mass resignation as a form of protest against what they perceived as the local government’s lack of concrete action on their long-standing complaints and the legal case filed against them.

However, the resignations did not take effect after the Tigbauan mayor rejected them and First District Representative Janette Garin also appealed to the officials to continue serving their constituents.

Taño said both parties must comply with certain conditions under a joint motion filed with the court to prevent a recurrence of the dispute.

As of the latest update, the poultry farm’s operations remain temporarily suspended, he added.IMT
