Senator Raffy Tulfo has pressed the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to crack down on the illegal “5-5-5” scheme, saying workers are still being repeatedly hired and fired before regularization.

At a Senate labor hearing, Tulfo said complaints remain widespread, especially in fast food and manufacturing firms, despite existing rules banning the practice.

“Talamak pa rin ang 5-5-5 scheme… pagdating ng ika-limang buwan ay sisibakin ang mga ito at muling ire-rehire para hindi ma-regularize,” he said.

He questioned DOLE’s enforcement of labor laws, adding that inspections often fail to detect violations and even hinted at possible misconduct among inspectors.

Tulfo urged sanctions against erring officials, saying accountability is key to stopping abuses.IMT
