Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said Tuesday, May 19, there was no attack on the Senate during the May 13 incident, although he would not say if the gun-related episode was staged.
In a Palace briefing with PNP chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., Remulla said CCTV footage from the Senate and GSIS buildings showed what really happened that day.
“All evidence points that there was no attack at the Senate,” he said.
He also denied reports that NBI agents entered the Senate premises, which is housed in a GSIS facility.
Remulla said that before the incident, then acting Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Mao Aplasca allegedly told his men to “lock and load.”
Pressed if the incident was staged, Remulla declined to say, but stood by his earlier statement that there was no attack on the Senate.
He said President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has already been informed of the developments.
This follows an earlier statement from Palace press officer Claire Castro, who also said the Senate was not under attack.IMT
