In-person classes in public and private schools in Iloilo City are suspended on Thursday, April 25, and Friday, 26, due to the “dangerous” heat level.

The suspension, which covers all levels, was announced by Mayor Jerry Trenas on Wednesday night, April 24.

In a statement, Treñas said he is constrained to suspend classes due to the forecasted danger heat index level of 43 degrees Celsius (°C).

“While education is a priority for me, the health of my beloved Ilonggos is still of foremost concern to me,” he added.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), a heat index in the danger level ranges between 42°C and 51°C

“Life is more important than education,” said Treñas.IMT
