The upland town of Tubungan is laying the groundwork to become a coffee-producing and agri-ecotourism destination in the province of Iloilo.
The local government recently participated in the Iloilo Coffee Stakeholders Meeting and the unveiling of the Iloilo Coffee Roadmap 2026–2032.
The meeting brought key industry partners together to solidify the province’s blueprint for boosting coffee yields, empowering local businesses, and reaching new markets.
Emelyn Tano, Municipal Public Employment Service Office (PESO) head and IP focal person, presented strategies to connect coffee farmers with institutional buyers and expand business opportunities, ensuring Iloilo Robusta consistently meets market demands for volume, quality, price, and supply.
The meeting was organized by the Iloilo Coffee Council, in partnership with the Provincial Agriculture Office (PAGRO), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Iloilo, and Catholic Relief Services (CRS).
The validated recommendations and roadmap outcomes were formally submitted to the Iloilo Provincial Government to serve as foundational inputs for finalizing the Iloilo Coffee Roadmap 2026–2032.
These reinforced Tubungan’s proposed community-based coffee shop and agri-eco-tourism project, an initiative designed to convert local coffee yields into sustainable businesses, create jobs, and boost regional agri-ecotourism.
The local government reiterated its commitment to collaborating with provincial authorities, the Iloilo Coffee Council, and private sector partners to uplift local growers, Indigenous Peoples, women, youth, former rebels, and other marginalized communities.IMT
