Senate Foreign Relations Committee Vice Chairman Erwin Tulfo has warned overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in France, Saudi Arabia and Israel to take extra precautions amid security concerns in the three countries.

In a statement, Tulfo urged Filipinos in France, particularly those in Paris, to be careful when traveling to work amid reported clashes between protesters and authorities, as well as looting.

“To our fellowmen in France, take double precaution especially in going to work because of massive riots and looting,” he said.

Tulfo also cautioned OFWs in Saudi Arabia to monitor news and security advisories before leaving for work, citing reported attacks by Iran-backed Houthi forces. He referred to the seven Filipino workers who were wounded in an attack at King Khalid International Airport.

“For those in Saudi Arabia, be extra careful and mindful of the news before coming to work because there are bombing attacks by Iran-backed Houthis, like what happened to the seven OFWs who were wounded due to the attack at the King Khalid International Airport,” he said.

For Filipinos in Israel, Tulfo advised them to avoid traveling to the West Bank as much as possible, citing alleged attacks by masked Israeli settlers against foreigners.

He also called on Filipinos to pray for the safety of OFWs abroad and the families they have left behind in the Philippines.IMT
