More than 300 new police recruits from different provinces and cities in Western Visayas have officially entered the ranks of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Police Brigadier General Randulf T Tuaño, Police Regional Office (PRO-6) director, administered the oath of office to 319 police officers on Wednesday, September 16.
The oath-taking ceremony at the PRO-6 Grandstand in Camp Delgado, Iloilo City also marked the beginning of the new cops’ training that will shape their discipline, capability, and accountability as law enforcers.
The new batch is composed of 275 males and 44 females, who successfully completed the prescribed recruitment and selection process of the PNP.
Of the new recruits, 94 were selected under the Regular Recruitment Program out of 507 applicants, while 225 were chosen under the Attrition Recruitment Program out of 1,009 applicants.
As part of their formal entry into the service, each recruit also received their respective ATM cards for payroll and other related financial transactions as new members of the PNP.
In his message during the ceremony, Police General Jose Melencio C Nartatez Jr., PNP chief, said wearing the uniform comes with a great responsibility.
He reminded the new police officers to safeguard public trust through integrity, discipline, professionalism, obedience to the law, and respect for human rights.
Meanwhile, in his guidance to the new recruits, Tuaño reminded them not to forget the hardships and sacrifices they went through to join the police force.
“While you are in training, do not forget the hardships and sacrifices you went through to reach this point and be included among the 319 chosen ones,” he said.
“Your first test is how you will follow the rules inside the training center. Right there, your discipline and ability to obey existing guidelines will already be measured,” the region’s top cop added.IMT
