The celebration of the 128th Philippine Independence Day in Western Visayas on Friday, June 12, was “peaceful and orderly,” with no major untoward incidents recorded.
According to the Police Regional Office (PRO-6), flag-raising rites, wreath-laying ceremonies, rallies, and other activities related to the celebration were “successfully conducted across the region.”
The Philippine National Police’s (PNP) regional office attributed the peaceful celebration to early security preparations and strategic personnel deployment, strengthened coordination with local government units (LGUs) and partner agencies, and the public’s cooperation.
More than 5,000 security personnel were deployed thoughout the region. These include 4,430 police officers, 101 personnel from other concerned agencies, and 761 force multipliers.
They were strategically positioned in ceremonial venues, public places, transportation terminals, major roads, and other areas of convergence to ensure police visibility, traffic management, public assistance, and immediate response when needed.
“The peaceful and orderly observance of Independence Day in Western Visayas reflects our collective commitment to public safety,” said Police Brigadier General Randulf T. Tuaño, PRO-6 acting regional diretor,
“We thank our personnel, partner agencies, local government units, and the public for their cooperation and support,” he added.IMT
