The National Irrigation Administration–Jalaur River Multi-Purpose Project Stage II (NIA-JRMP II) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) have provided more than P7 million worth of livelihood assistance to 175 families in Calinog, Iloilo affected by the project’s construction.
The assistance, provided under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Project (DILP), included goats, ducks, feeds, and veterinary supplies intended to help affected families establish or strengthen alternative sources of income.
Of the 175 beneficiaries, 89 received support for goat production, 18 for mallard egg production, and 68 for Muscovy egg and meat production.
The beneficiaries were also enrolled in one-year group personal accident insurance coverage through the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) to provide additional protection as they pursue their livelihood activities.
To help ensure the sustainability of their enterprises, the beneficiaries underwent training on appropriate livelihood technologies and financial management, equipping them with skills to properly manage their resources and improve the viability of their livelihood projects.IMT
