An Angkas motorcycle rider tagged as a high-value individual (HVI) is now behind bars following a buy-bust operation that yielded more than P1 million worth of suspected “shabu.”

The suspect was identified as alias “Chad,” 29, a college student residing in Savannah Subdivision, Brgy. Abilay Norte, Oton, Iloilo

According to authorities, Chad tried to escape but was caught after a brief armed confrontation in Brgy. Rizal, Lapuz Sur in Iloilo City on June 8.

However, his two alleged  accomplices, known only as alias “Mak-Mak” and alias “Niko,” managed to flee the scene on separate motorcycles. They are also classified as HVIs.

Confiscated from the scene were 14 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing 150 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated standard drug price (SDP) of P1,020,000.00.

Operatives also recovered the buy-bust money, a caliber .45 pistol loaded with four live rounds, one spent caliber .45 shell, and various non-drug items.

Chad is currently detained and will be facing multiple charges, including violations of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), and Attempted Homicide.

Follow-up operations were launched to track down and arrest the two fleeing suspects.

The joint operation was led by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) under Police Captain Roque C. Gimeno III, in coordination with the Iloilo Maritime Police Station (MARPSTA), Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) SWAT Team, and the Iloilo City Police Station (ICPS8) Station Drug Enforcement Team.

Police Colonel Wilbert B. Parilla, ICPO director, issued a stern warning following the operation, emphasizing the police force’s unwavering commitment to the anti-drug campaign.

“You will not succeed in evading the law. We will relentlessly pursue criminal elements until they are placed behind bars,” he said.IMT
