A 47-year-old barangay kagawad designated as a high-value individual (HVI) was arrested after yielding over P2.2 million worth of suspected illegal drugs during a joint buy-bust operation in Barangay Ortiz, Iloilo City.
The suspect, identified by police only by the alias “Bulldog,” is a widow and residing in the village where the operation took place.
Operatives from the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), under the leadership of Officer-in-Charge Police Captain Roque C. Gimeno III, executed the sting operation at around 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21.
Law enforcers seized six heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets and eight knot-tied transparent plastic bags containing suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride).
The confiscated drugs weighed approximately 330 grams, with an estimated standard drug price (SDP) of P2,244,000.
Operatives also recovered the buy-bust money and various non-drug paraphernalia from the suspect.
The operation was conducted in coordination with the Iloilo Maritime Police Station (MARPSTA-Iloilo), Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team, and the Station Drug Enforcement Team of Iloilo City Police Station 1 (ICPS1-SDET).
“Bulldog” is currently detained at Iloilo City Police Station 1 (ICPS1). Charges are being prepared against him for violations of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.IMT
