President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said he wants to leave a legacy of principled service in the last two years of his term.
In an interview with Bloomberg Television, Marcos Jr. said he hopes Filipinos will remember that he served and stayed true to his principles of “duty, honor, country.”
“I wanted to serve because it’s my duty. And I served with honor. And I served my country,” he said.
Marcos Jr. also said he learned from watching his father, former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., govern for two decades.
But he stressed he has to be a different leader because the country now faces different challenges and realities.
“I have to be. It’s a different time. There are fundamental lessons that I still hold close to my heart. But in terms of the practical things that you do, very few of those things apply any longer,” the President said.IMT
