A week-long series of intensified anti-drug operations by the Police Regional Office (PRO-6) has resulted in the arrest of 40 individuals and the seizure of more than P10.35 million worth of illegal drugs in Western Visayas.
The operations, conducted from September 21 to 27, 2026, were part of PRO6’s “Birada Semana” initiative,
According to the PRO-6 consolidated report, authorities launched 36 targeted anti-drug operations across the region.
The operations yielded 1,520.04 grams (over 1.5 kilograms) of suspected shabu (methamphetamine), 51 grams of marijuana, three milliliters of liquid marijuana, and eight grams of kush.
The combined estimated standard drug price (SDP) of the confiscated substances is P10,355,052.00.
Of the 40 individuals arrested during the week-long crackdown, 14 were classified as high-value individuals (HVIs), 23 as street-level individuals (SLIs), and three as users.
The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) accounted for the largest volume of seized shabu, confiscating 941 grams.
The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) followed with 198.03 grams, and the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 (RPDEU6) with 165 grams.
Police Brigadier General Randulf T. Tuaño, PRO-6 director, said the results of “Birada Semana” reflect the continuous and coordinated execution of intelligence-driven operations targeting the illegal drug trade in the region.
“We do not wait for the problem to escalate before we act. As long as there are individuals pushing and selling illegal drugs, we will relentlessly pursue them,” he said.
“Every gram of illegal drugs we confiscate is a threat removed from our communities and prevented from reaching our youth and citizens,” the region’s top cop continued.
Tuaño stressed that the “Birada Semana” campaign goes beyond operational metrics, aiming instead to disrupt the illegal drug supply chain and reduce community drug prevalence sustainably.
“The fight against illegal drugs is not measured by a single operation or a week’s accomplishment. What matters is that we continuously stem the supply, identify those involved, and dismantle the networks distributing these substances,” he said.
“We remain determined and intelligence-driven in our operations to protect the people of Western Visayas,” Tuaño added.IMT
