Energy Secretary Sharon Garin has assured the public that the Philippines has enough energy supply, citing current inventory levels of major petroleum products.

Speaking after a Palace briefing, Garin said the country has an average 50-day supply, with 36 days for LPG, 105 days for kerosene, 49 days for diesel, and 54 days for gasoline.

According to the official, additional orders have already been placed to boost supply.

“The lowest right now is at 36 days of LPG but we confirmed an order together with PNOC and our oil companies na nangangailangan and we have made an order, additional order yesterday morning and I think we will reach about 50 days by today also on average,” Garin said.

She stressed that supply remains stable but still depends on global factors.

“Maganda pa naman ‘yung supply level natin, but that all depends also on what will happen with the Strait of Hormuz, ano ang availability sa ibang countries. Pero magandang number ito kasi sa number na ito, binibigyan tayo ng 50 days to make the replenishment,” Garin added.

The DOE is also pushing long-term solutions such as rooftop solar, net metering, and more renewable energy projects to reduce reliance on Middle East oil, while urging the public to conserve electricity and fuel.IMT
