The Iloilo Doctors Hospital Employees Union has filed a petition before the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB)-6 seeking a P250 increase in the daily minimum wage for workers in Western Visayas.

If approved, the proposed adjustment would raise the region’s minimum wage to P800 per day from the current P550 level for covered workers.

The petition comes after the RTWPB-6 dismissed an earlier wage hike application filed by the United Labor Alliance Western Visayas due to non-compliance with documentary requirements.

RTWPB-6 chairman Atty. Sixto Rodriguez Jr. said the new petition carries essentially the same proposal as the earlier filing.

“Only the name of the petitioner was changed, but the request remains the same an increase that would bring the minimum wage to P800 per day,” he said.

For his part, United Labor Alliance Western Visayas chairman Elmer Forro noted that the Iloilo Doctors Hospital Employees Union was among the signatories to the previous petition.

“They are the ones who refiled the petition that was earlier submitted by United Labor, wherein the Iloilo Doctors Hospital Employees Union was also a signatory,” he said.

The RTWPB-6 is set to evaluate the new petition and determine whether the circumstances cited by the petitioners qualify as supervening events, which may justify the reopening of wage deliberations despite the one-year prohibition period following the issuance of a wage order.

Under wage-setting rules, petitions for wage increases are generally barred within one year from the issuance of a wage order unless exceptional circumstances or supervening events are established.

The board last issued a wage order on Nov. 17, 2025, granting an increase ranging from P33 to P40 in the daily minimum wage of private-sector workers across Western Visayas.IMT
