The Iloilo Sports Complex is set for a significant transformation this year as the provincial government rolls out more than P23.6 million worth of infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving sports facilities and services for athletes and the public.

Among the projects now underway are the P9.3-million roofing of the tennis court, the construction of a P7.6-million administration building, the acquisition of a P5-million generator set, the P1-million repair of the track oval, and the installation of a P700,000 water tank for the indoor swimming pool.

Provincial officials are targeting the completion and operationalization of all projects before the end of 2026.

Iloilo Sports Development and Management Office (ISDMO) chief Dr. Ma. Janelyn Fundal said the developments mark a major milestone in the continued modernization of the province’s premier sports facility.

“These projects represent a dream turned into reality through the unwavering support of Governor Arthur ‘Toto’ Defensor Jr.,” she said.

Fundal noted that the upgrades will not only enhance the functionality of the sports complex but also improve the quality of services provided to athletes, sports organizations, and other facility users.

“With these improvements, we are creating facilities that reflect the identity and vision of the ISDMO while enabling us to serve our clientele better,” she added.

The redevelopment forms part of the provincial government’s broader efforts to strengthen sports development, provide quality training venues, and position Iloilo as a competitive hub for regional and national sporting events.IMT
