Gearing up for the much-anticipated sporting events in the country, the province of Antique is sending 105 delegates to Agusan del Sur for the 2026 Palarong Pambansa from May 24 to 31.

According to officials from the Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division of Antique, the delegation includes 31 athletes who qualified for the Palarong Pambansa in gymnastics, badminton, billiards, dancesport, boxing, swimming, tennis, taekwondo, athletics, archery, and chess.

Dr. Ernesto Servillon Jr., Schools Division Superintendent, said in a press conference on Tuesday that the athletes are finishing their training and will leave for Agusan del Sur this Sunday, May 17.

Supporting their student athletes, Antique allotted P8,581,000 for the delegates’ participation in the national games through the Special Education Fund (SEF).

This includes P3,150,000 for transportation allowance; P1,314,000 for training allowance; P1,200,000 for travel allowance; P720,000 for van rentals; P637,200 for participation and food allowance; P630,000 for parade shoes and socks allowance; P370,000 for parade uniform allowance; P290,000 for sports supplies allowance; P155,000 for playing uniform allowance; and P124,800 for incentives.

Governor Paolo Javier, who chairs the Provincial School Board (PSB), is adamant that Antique delegates should have minimal out-of-pocket expenses in representing the province in Agusan del Sur.

Servillon said the provincial government’s support has been instrumental in the delegates’ preparations for the national games.

“In terms sa preparation, wara kita ti problema kay ka supportive ka office ni Gov [Javier] kag smooth sailing ang pag-process natun sa Povincial Capitol,” he said.IMT
