The Supreme Court (SC) has yet to issue a temporary restraining order (TRO) on the plea of Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa over the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant against him.
On Wednesday, May 13, the SC ordered executive officials to submit their comment within 72 hours on dela Rosa’s urgent motions.
During a special session, the SC En Banc directed former Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin and other respondents to answer the motions related to the possible enforcement of the warrant issued by the International Criminal Court.
Dela Rosa was also given 72 hours to file his reply after receiving the respondents’ comment.
The SC clarified that while no TRO has been issued so far, it may still grant interim relief if immediate intervention becomes necessary.
Earlier, dela Rosa asked the SC to stop any arrest, detention, transfer, or surrender linked to reports of an ICC warrant over the Duterte administration’s anti-drug campaign.
He also questioned the subpoena issued by the Philippine National Police-CIDG regarding alleged extrajudicial killings during his stint as Davao City police chief.
In a supplemental motion, dela Rosa claimed operatives from the National Bureau of Investigation tried to block his entry into the Senate while former senator Antonio Trillanes IV allegedly presented a copy of the ICC warrant against him.IMT
