The Iloilo City Government’s General Services Office (GSO) has generated P2.2 million in revenue after processing 2.2 million kilograms of waste into functional items.
The initiative converted discarded materials, including plastic bags, into “green livelihood” products in partnership with Evergreen Labs PH, a circular economy builder.
The project forms part of the city’s compliance with the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) law.
Among the primary beneficiaries are members of the Women in Sustainable Entrepreneurship (WISE) Program, who crafted the transformed products, alongside homeowner associations in Lanit, Jaro, and San Juan, Molo.
A portion of the proceeds will fund additional livelihood projects under the USWAG Calajunan Livelihood Association, while the rest will support the rehabilitation of the city’s Central Materials Recovery Facility.IMT
