The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) is on high alert, readying its search and rescue personnel for immediate deployment as Super Typhoon “Bavi”—which will be locally named “Inday”—approaches the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

ICPO director Police Colonel Wilbert B. Parilla ordered the activation of all police units over the weekend, well ahead of the typhoon’s expected entry.

Station commanders have been instructed to closely coordinate with the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) while continuously monitoring weather bulletins issued by state weather PAGASA.

To ensure operational readiness, key ICPO officials conducted a full accounting of the Search and Rescue (SAR) Team and an inventory of all rescue equipment on Tuesday morning, July 7.

The inspection was led by Police Major Shella Mae A. Sangrines, Officer-in-Charge of the City Community Affairs and Development Unit (CCADU) and Chief of the Public Information Office (PIO), alongside Police Lieutenant Marites L. Delay and City Executive Senior Police Officer (CESPO) Rommel J. Nandin.

The ICPO’s proactive measures align with the directive of Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. under the banner “Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman,” which prioritizes swift response, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to public safety.

Currently, SAR teams are on standby for immediate deployment.

Meanwhile, other police personnel have been tasked with traffic management, public safety assistance, and the localized dissemination of weather advisories, particularly in flood-prone areas.

Mobile patrol units are also intensifying their monitoring of critical zones to ensure rapid response to any emergencies.

“The safety of our communities remains our top priority. ICPO is fully prepared to respond to emergencies and provide the necessary assistance to those who may be affected by Typhoon Inday,” Parilla said.

The ICPO urged the public to remain vigilant and to closely monitor updates from official government information channels.IMT
