The Iloilo City Government has stepped up its disaster preparedness measures ahead of the possible effects of Typhoon “Inday” by convening a Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA) and scenario-building meeting to ensure the readiness of response teams and local communities.

The virtual meeting, led by the Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), gathered members of the city’s response clusters, barangay representatives, and technical experts to assess the latest weather forecasts, identify possible hazards, and review contingency measures ahead of the expected rainfall.

PAGASA-Iloilo Weather Specialist engineer Ferdinand Rubin Jr. briefed participants on the cyclone’s projected movement, possible weather scenarios, and the potential effects on Western Visayas.

During the PDRA, city officials also discussed preparedness measures, including the readiness of emergency response teams, evacuation protocols, resource deployment, and coordination with barangays.

While the cyclone is not currently projected to directly affect the country upon entering the PAR, the advisory said it may enhance the southwest monsoon, bringing periods of moderate to heavy rainfall over several areas.

The city government urged residents to remain vigilant, monitor official advisories from PAGASA and the Iloilo City Operations Center, and take the necessary precautions as weather conditions may change.PIA Maleriado, WVSU-COC intern/IMT
