President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered all concerned government agencies to prepare for the effects of typhoons and flooding as Super Typhoon Bavi nears the Philippine area of responsibility.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the President directed the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) to hold pre-disaster risk assessment meetings, keep response teams on standby, and strengthen public warning campaigns.
He also ordered preemptive evacuations in high-risk areas, the preparation of safe evacuation centers, the pre-positioning of rescue teams, and enough relief goods and essential supplies.
Government agencies were also instructed to inspect critical infrastructure, identify alternate routes, enforce sea travel bans, and monitor possible disease outbreaks after flooding.
“So, ito naman po ay whole-of-government approach, so lahat po ng ahensiya na-involve ay kailangan pong kumilos – iyan po ang utos ng Pangulo,” Castro said.IMT
