The Iloilo Provincial Government is seeking a higher budget for next year.
Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. submitted the proposed 2024 executive budget to Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) amounting to P5,132,534,481.
The figure is higher by P19 million compared to this year’s budget.
Of the proposed budget, Defensor allocated P4.174 billion for the General Fund and P957 million for the Local Economic Enterprises (LEE).
Defensor said a big chunk of the 2024 budget will be spent for development programs to boost agriculture, tourism, connectivity , water supply and renewable energy, among others.
The General Fund is appropriated to Current Operating Expenditures, Personal Services (P1,144,766,540), Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (P1,498,199,069), Capital Outlay (P5,000,000) and Special Purpose Appropriations (P1,526,957,536).
The amount for LEE will be used to pay for the salaries of health workers and personnel of the 12 district hospitals and the Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Pototan town.IMT
