The Archdiocese of Jaro has expressed regret over the postponement of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE), which were originally scheduled for November this year.
Msgr. Meliton Oso, director of the Jaro Archdiocesan Social Action Center (JASAC), issued the statement following the signing of the law postponing the elections.
Oso said the Church hopes the Supreme Court will act on a petition filed by election lawyer Romulo Macalintal questioning the postponement.
He added that, according to Commission on Elections Chairman George Garcia, the November polls could still proceed if the Supreme Court allows it.
Despite the postponement, Oso urged the public to remain active in safeguarding democracy and exercising their right to vote.IMT
