Despite her fourth-round exit at Wimbledon, Alex Eala continues to earn praise from senators for her historic campaign and the inspiration she has given to Filipinos.

Senator Panfilo Lacson said Eala should still be considered a “true champion,” stressing that one loss does not define her remarkable achievement.

“Alex Eala didn’t disappoint us with her loss… She continues to inspire and motivate our youth who dare to dream big beyond their means. That makes her a true champion,” Lacson said in a post on X.

Meanwhile, Senator Joel Villanueva filed a Senate resolution honoring Eala, saying she has broken barriers for Filipino tennis players and proved that Filipinos can compete with the world’s best.

“Alex Eala has distinguished herself as one of the finest athletes ever produced by the Philippines,” Villanueva said.

He added, “Eala’s achievements exemplify the Filipino values of perseverance, discipline, humility, excellence, courage, and dedication.”IMT
