President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday, June 16, said fighting corruption remains one of his administration’s top priorities, describing it as a “corrosive influence” that weakens government institutions and disrupts public services.
Speaking alongside German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Malacañang, Marcos Jr. said corruption continues to be one of the biggest challenges facing the government.
“Every entity, every business entity, every government feels the corrosive influence of corruption,” Marcos Jr. said.
The President acknowledged that the anti-corruption campaign requires difficult reforms, saying there is “no way to do it easy or painlessly.”
He stressed that officials involved in corruption must be held accountable and made to return what was taken from the public.
“What they have taken is not my money or your money or a company’s money. It’s the money from the people,” Marcos Jr. said.
Marcos Jr. said the administration remains focused on strengthening transparency, accountability, and public trust in government.IMT
