President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. welcomed newly appointed United States Ambassador to the Philippines Lee Lipton and US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor during a courtesy call in Malacañang on Monday, July 20.
The meeting focused on strengthening regional cooperation, economic ties, and digital trade between the Philippines and the United States.
Marcos Jr. and the two envoys also reaffirmed their commitment to keeping the Indo-Pacific free and open while further boosting the long-standing alliance between the two countries.
The courtesy call comes ahead of the Quad Ministerial Meeting, which will be held on the sidelines of the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Manila. The talks are expected to include discussions on the newly launched Indo-Pacific Maritime Surveillance Collaboration.
The meeting also coincides with the 80th anniversary of formal diplomatic relations between the Philippines and the United States.
Executive Secretary Ralph Recto and Acting Presidential Communications Office Secretary Dave Gomez also attended the meeting.IMT
