A significant blow was struck against the local illegal drug trade after a major buy-bust operation led to the arrest of a high-value individual (HVI) and the seizure of an estimated P1.4 million worth of suspected shabu in Dingle, Iloilo.

The suspect, identified as alias “Makoy,” a 46-year-old resident of Barangay Población, is an stablished drug personality whose illegal operations allegedly extended beyond the town, according to police investigators.

The operation, conducted along Devera Street on May 22, was the culmination of extensive intelligence gathering and case build-up by operatives of the Police Regional Office (PRO-6).

It was spearheaded by the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) Team 2, working in close coordination with the Dingle Municipal Police Station (MPS) and the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU).

Operatives recovered five heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing 220 grams of suspected shabu, buy-bust money and other unspecified pieces of evidence.

The suspect is currently under police custody and will face charges for violations of Section 5 (Sale of Illegal Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Illegal Drugs) of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Police Brigadier General Randulf T. Tuaño, PRO-6 acting regional director, commended the collaborative efforts of the involved units.

He emphasized that the arrest underscores the regional office’s continued aggressive stance against illegal narcotics.

“This operation demonstrates PRO-6’s unwavering commitment in intensifying our campaign against illegal drugs and ensuring the safety of our communities,” Tuaño said.

“We commend the operating units for their dedication and professionalism,” he added.IMT
