Malacañag on Monday, April 27, said it supports investigations into the clashes in Taboso, Negros Occidental between government troops and alleged National People’s Army (NPA) members that left casualties.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the Armed Force of the Philippines (AFP) maintained the operation was legitimate.
“According to the AFP, legitimate military operation ang naganap, at ang sabi din ni General Brawner, they were armed,” she said.
She added the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) will not be stopped from conducting its own probe.
“Magpapaimbestiga sila sa Commission on Human Rights, hindi naman pipigilan para malaman ang katotohanan dito,” Castro said.
Reports said three individuals were killed, while the CHR has already begun an independent investigation.
Castro also cited President Marcos Jr.’s directive to continue the fight against insurgency.
“Dapat labanan ang terorismo, dapat labanan ang komunismo. Iyong mga maaaring nanggugulo sa ating bayan. So, iyon lamang, basta dapat legal ang ginagawa,” she said.IMT
