Malacañang has assured farmers that government assistance will continue as they deal with rising production costs and the expected effects of El Niño later this year.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the Department of Agriculture is already distributing free seeds and fertilizer to qualified farmers.
Nakatanggap ang mga magsasaka na may two hectares and below na lupa ng libreng pataba at binhi ngayong planting season,” Castro said during a Palace briefing.
Castro added that the government is also preparing more assistance for farmers who may not be able to plant because of water shortages caused by El Niño.
She said cloud seeding operations will be conducted this week over Magat Dam to increase its water supply for irrigation.
