Malacañang has dismissed Senator Alan Peter Cayetano’s allegation against President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. as baseless, saying the lawmaker was merely trying to “save himself from embarrassment.”
In a statement on Saturday, July 18, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro slammed Cayetano for sowing intrigue and making unfounded claims to shift the blame, instead of taking responsibility for his own shortcomings.
Alan Cayetano sa paggawa ng intriga at mga kwentong walang basehan (Why can’t Senator Alan Cayetano seem to stop himself from stirring up intrigue and spreading baseless stories)?” Castro said.
Castro’s statement came after Cayetano on Friday, July 17, claimed that Marcos rejected plans to distribute P10,000 in aid to Filipinos recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic after he won the elections in 2022.
She likened Cayetano’s actions to the political style of his ally, former president Rodrigo Duterte, saying the senator was making claims that served only as campaign rhetoric.
Alan,” she added.
Castro said the Palace would present evidence to refute Cayetano’s “lies.”PNA
