The Police Regional Office (PRO-6) arrested 147 individuals and seized more than P13.47 million worth of fish products and illegal fishing paraphernalia during an intensive half-month regional crackdown.

The campaign, which spanned from July 1 to 15, 2026, involved 80 separate sea operations designed to curb destructive fishing practices and protect the region’s rich marine ecosystems.

According to official data released by PRO-6, the total estimated value of the confiscated items reached P13,472,750.00.

The bulk of the haul consisted of heavy fishing gear and sea vessels—including motorboats and larger fishing boats—valued at P13,313,040.00. Illegally caught fish products valued at P159,710.00 were also seized.

The Iloilo Police Provincial Office led the regionwide campaign in terms of operational output and seizures. It conducted 29 operations, resulting in the arrest of 51 individuals and the confiscation of approximately P9.36 million worth of fish products and fishing paraphernalia.

The Capiz Police Provincial Office conducted nine operations, resulting in the arrest of 35 individuals and the recovery of items worth approximately P1.617 million.

The Guimaras Police Provincial Office carried out six operations, leading to the arrest of 15 suspects and the seizure of assets valued at over P1.33 million.

The Police provincial offices in Aklan and Antique, along with specialized PRO-6 maritime units, executed thr remaining operations, maintaining a high-visibility presence across the region’s sea lanes.

PRO-6 officials emphasized that the success of the 15-day sweep was bolstered by close, real-time coordination with local partners.

Officers worked hand-in-hand with the Bantay Dagat Task Force, local government units (LGUs), and various partner agencies to enhance maritime monitoring and ensure the prompt apprehension of violators.IMT
